~FAIRY
GARDENERS~
By
Valerie Curtiss

If
you've never seen a fairy, wings a'flutter in midflight,
then you've never been to my house on a balmy summer
night.
A ring of fairy mushrooms in the cool forest floor,
nestled in the dew-cooled grass will lead you to their
door.

Though
you say you've never seen one
I can tell you when they've been,
planting flowers I've never seen before;
flowers that simply nestled in.
You have to look with fairy eyes for signs that they
exist
and you won't know what your missing, 'till you've felt
a fairy kiss.

You have to hear with fairy ears their joyful laughs and
cries,
or the happy tinkling fairy sound of a fairy child near
by.
You have to learn to smell the flowers that sweetly
scent the air,
as fairy blossoms tell you when a fairy child is near.

You have to learn to feel their presence in the night,
feel the fairy breath upon your face as they pass close
by in flight.
They are busy little creatures drinking dewdrops from
the flowers,
working magic in the garden 'till the early morning
hours.

When the garden is just perfect and the moonlight drifts
away,
sunlight floods the golden lawn as nighttime turns to
day.
You've carried out your garden plans, and it's at its
very best,
you may have watered, fed, and planted,
but Fairy Gardeners did the rest.
